H is for the How to Series by Cassie Mae

Words  can't describe how much I love the author I feature as my 'H' post. I pretty much own almost every book she has ever written in either E-book format or as a paperback and she's actually made it onto my bucket list as a person I would love to meet in person and sign one of the books in this series that she hasn't signed for me yet.

The How To series by Cassie Mae is a cute, fun, young adult book series where all the male characters are nerdy, handsome, sweet boys that you just can't help crushing on. Each book is a stand-alone featuring two very different characters who fall in love.  I started the series by reading the second book, How to Seduce a Band Geek, which is also my favorite.  It took me forever to read the first book but only because I've been slammed with a heavy TBR list.

How to Date a Nerd is the first book in the series, it follows Zoe a closet nerd who is love with her neighbor Zak but won't tell anyone for fear it would ruin her reputation. I really wanted to love this book as much as I loved the other two, but with all the mean stuff Zoe says to Zak throughout the book I could only give it four stars. Not that the book was bad, pretty much anything Cassie writes is wrapped up in golden wrapping paper, and would make King Midas jealous. The first book just didn't catch me like the next two in the series.

Now in How to Seduce a Band Geek, it follows Sierra and Levi, (Sierra is Zoe's little sister, and Levi is Zoe's best friend). I loved Band Geek because I totally was Sierra in high school.  Crushing on older boys, hoping to get their attention in anyway possible. I loved how no matter what, nothing was going to change Sierra's mind about how much she liked and possible loved Levi. I think Sierra is also my favorite female character out of any of Cassie's books too.

In the final book How to Hook a Bookworm  the story follows Adam (Sierra's best friend) and Brea (Levi's little sister.) as Brea goes through strange feelings for Adam, and finds her first boyfriend in Jay a cute new student at her school. I thought Brea was hilarious, the story featured a naked squirrel dance.... yup you read it right . . . and Adam was just the most swoon worthy nerd ever!

This series is just too cute for words and really should be read by anyone who loves nerds, romance and roots for best friends getting together!

Zoe has a great pair of legs, perky boobs, and wears exactly what she needs to show it all off. She works hard for the easy sleazy ‘you only wish you were me’ reputation, burying who she really is—an all-out nerd.

The only time Zoe gets to be herself is when she hides under her comforter to read X-Men comics, sending jealousy stabs at everyone who attends Comic-Con. Keeping up her popular rep is too important, and she’s so damn insecure to care about the consequences. But when Zoe’s sister takes her car for a ‘crash and burn into a tree’ joyride, her parents get her a replacement. A manual. Something she doesn’t know how to operate, but her next door neighbor Zak sure as heck does.

Zak’s a geek to the core, shunned by everyone in school for playing Dungeons and Dragons at lunch and wearing “Use the Force” t-shirts. And Zoe’s got it bad for the boy. Only Zak doesn’t want Popular Zoe. He wants Geek Zoe.

She has to shove her insecurities and the fear of dropping a few rungs on the social ladder aside to prove to Zak who she really is and who she wants to be… if she can figure it out herself.

Sierra Livingston’s got it bad for her sister’s best friend, Levi Mason—the boy who carries his drumsticks in his pocket, marches with the school’s band, and taps his feet to whatever beat runs through his head. Sierra racks her brain for ways to impress the sexy drummer, but the short skirts and bursting cleavage don’t seem to cut it.

When Sierra gets paired with Levi’s sister, Brea, for a mentorship program, they strike a deal. In exchange for Sierra keeping her mouth shut about Brea ditching the program, Brea lets Sierra dig for more info on Levi to help get the guy of her dreams.

But when Sierra discovers Levi no longer plays the drums, his family has moved into a trailer, and he’s traded in his Range Rover for a baby blue moped, Sierra’s not sure if she can go through with violating his privacy. She’ll have to find the courage to ask him straight out—if he’s willing to let her in—and explore other ways to seduce the school’s band geek.

Getting kissed for a birthday present should not be a big deal. Especially for Brea Mason, who doesn’t think of her best friend, Adam Silver, in any way other than… well, a friend. But after the liplock she can’t seem to get him off her mind. And she has to, because Adam is a senior while she’s stuck in high school for another two years.

Then BAM, the perfect distraction comes along in the form of a new, hot sophomore who actually seems interested in Brea, despite her anti-social personality. And with the stress at home, stress at school, and ignoring the reality of all her friends leaving come June, Brea welcomes the distraction.

But when she sees four fat Fs on her report card, Brea needs a study buddy, and the best candidate is Adam, book nerd and math whiz. So she enlists his help, hoping the birthday kiss was just a fluke. After all, she has a boyfriend now. It should be easy to ignore the butterflies and fizzy feelings that arise with the bookworm… right?

About the Author: (taken from her website)

Cassie Mae (who dons the name Becca Ann on occasion) is the author of a few hundred… okay, maybe not that many… books. Some of which became popular for their quirky titles, characters, and stories. She likes writing about nerds, geeks, the awkward, the fluffy, the short, the shy, the loud, the fun.

Since publishing her bestselling debut, Reasons I Fell for the Funny Fat Friend, she has published and sold books to Random House, Swoon Romance, and Spencer Hill Press. She is represented by Rachel Stout at Dystel and Goderich Literary Management. She has a favorite of all her babies, but no, she won’t tell you what it is. (Mainly because it changes depending on the day.)

Along with writing, Cassie likes to binge watch Teen Wolf and The Big Bang Theory. She can quote Harry Potter lines quick as a whip. And she likes kissing her hubby, but only if his facial hair is trimmed. She also likes cheesecake to a very obsessive degree.

On a personal note:  Cassie Mae is not only a very talented writer but she also offers editing services and formatting services to other authors. Cassie has been an inspiration to me, as well as a great friend and mentor. She is silly and goofy in the best way possible. She makes you feel accepted and loved like you are one of her best friends. She makes me laugh, she makes me feel special, and she makes me feel, even with all my self doubt, that I can be a writer. I just hope one day I can have as much confidence, talent, and  the following as she has achieved in the last four years.  I'm rooting for her to make that New York Times Best Seller list someday!  She deserves it!  Thank you Cassie for being, not only my friend, but someone who I can look up to as well, and hopefully one day you can help me mark off that bucket list item when we meet. :D

She has written over 12 books with quite a few coming out this upcoming year.  You really should check out her books! There is just way too many to feature :D
